4 Seasons Air Conditioning entered the market in 2003 offering ‘turnkey’ air conditioning solutions to a business and residential market. The franchise owners act as both air conditioning consultants and project managers.
 
Operating out of their home, franchisees work with clients’ at their premises assessing their needs, identifying the right, high quality (Daikin ® ) equipment for the task, and overseeing all necessary contract work.
 
The heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) market is expanding. The sector’s growth rate doubled from 2004 to 2006, and is predicted to grow further. Once dominated by heating, the £1.35 billion HVAC market is increasingly driven by air conditioning, which made up 43% of total HVAC expenditure in 2006.
 
A significant rise in demand has been observed in the residential and small commercial/light retail sectors, which are struggling to improve the health of their interior environments, cut heating and air conditioning costs, comply with new environmental regulations, and capitalise on available “Green” grants and funding.
 
The Franchisor projects first year turnover will be in the region of £210k which should generate a gross profit of £126k and an operating profit of £27.7k before tax, depreciation, finance costs and drawings.
 
Prospective franchise owners will be required to invest £26,900 plus VAT in start-up costs and a sufficient working capital provision will also be required.
 
The franchisor provides its franchise owners with a comprehensive two-week training in all aspects the 4 Seasons Air Conditioning business. Franchisees learn market and technical information, as well as the sales,managerial, and administrative skills required to run a successful 4 Seasons Air Conditioning business. A support team will assist the launch of every franchise with up to three weeks of onsite follow-up training.
 
The franchisor will provide each franchise owner with ongoing support services.
 
Franchisees will require sales, project management and people skills. While no technical background is
