New Business Start ups

BBA has reported that the number of new businesses which opened in the three months to September 2008 decreased by 4% to 129,282, compared to an expected decline of between 10% and 15%.  Is this news that the country isn't doing as bad as we think? Or is it just that more and more people are looking for ways to earn more money with their own business, or maybe a home based business, or an online venture?

The figures don't break down to what type of businesses are being started be they sole traders, franchises, MLMs, online or offline ventures, but hey at least they are still be started.

Barclays Bank has also reported no substantial decline in the number of people wanting to launch their own ventures in 2009, but suggested that it would decrease significantly as national income falls.

Please read this and then think how many times have i started something but just not seen it through ?? It just meant that little bit of effort but you could not be bothered

The Daffodil Principle

Several times my daughter had telephoned to say, "Mother, you must come to see the daffodils before they are over." I wanted to go, but it was a two-hour drive from Laguna to Lake Arrowhead "I will come next Tuesday", I promised a little reluctantly on her third call.

Next Tuesday dawned cold and rainy Still, I had promised, and reluctantly I drove there. When I finally walked into Carolyn's house I was welcomed by the joyful sounds of happy children. I delightedly hugged and greeted my grandchildren.

"Forget the daffodils, Carolyn! The road is invisible in these clouds and fog, and there is nothing in the world except you and these children that I want to see badly enough to drive another inch!"

My daughter smiled calmly and said, "We drive in this all the time, Mother." "Well, you won't get me back on the road until it clears, and then I'm heading for home!" I assured her.

"But first we're going to see the daffodils. It's just a few blocks," Carolyn said. "I'll drive. I'm used to this."

"Carolyn," I said sternly, "please turn around." "It's all right, Mother, I promise. You will never forgive yourself if you miss this experience."

After about twenty minutes, we turned onto a small gravel road and I saw a small church. On the far side of the church, I saw a hand lettered sign with an arrow that read, "Daffodil Garden." We got out of the car, each took a child's hand, and I followed Carolyn down the path. Then, as we turned a corner, I looked up and gasped. Before me lay the most glorious sight.
It looked as though someone had taken a great vat of gold and poured it over the mountain peak and its surrounding slopes. The flowers were planted in majestic, swirling patterns, great ribbons and swaths of deep orange, creamy white, lemon yellow, salmon pink, and saffron and butter yellow. Each different-colored variety was planted in large groups so that it swirled and flowed like its own river with its own unique hue. There were five acres of flowers.

"Who did this?" I asked Carolyn. "Just one woman," Carolyn answered. "She lives on the property. That's her home." Carolyn pointed to a well-kept A-frame house, small and modestly sitting in the midst of all that glory. We walked up to the house.

On the patio, we saw a poster. "Answers to the Questions I Know You Are Asking", was the headline. The first answer was a simple one. "50,000 bulbs," it read. The second answer was, "One at a time, by one woman. Two hands, two feet, and one brain." The third answer was, "Began in 1958."

For me, that moment was a life-changing experience. I thought of this woman whom I had never met, who, more than forty years before, had begun, one bulb at a time, to bring her vision of beauty and joy to an obscure mountaintop. Planting one bulb at a time, year after year, this unknown woman had forever changed the world in which she lived. One day at a time, she had created something of extraordinary magnificence, beauty, and inspiration. The principle her daffodil garden taught is one of the greatest principles of celebration.
That is, learning to move toward our goals and desires one step at a time–often just one baby-step at time–and learning to love the doing, learning to use the accumulation of time. When we multiply tiny pieces of time with small increments of daily effort, we too will find we can accomplish magnificent things. We can change the world …

"It makes me sad in a way," I admitted to Carolyn. "What might I have accomplished if I had thought of a wonderful goal thirty-five or forty years ago and had worked away at it 'one bulb at a time' through all those years? Just think what I might have been able to achieve!"

My daughter summed up the message of the day in her usual direct way. "Start tomorrow," she said.

She was right. It's so pointless to think of the lost hours of yesterdays. The way to make learning a lesson of celebration instead of a cause for regret is to only ask, "How can I put this to use today?"

Use the Daffodil Principle. Stop waiting…..

Until your car or home is paid off
Until you get a new car or home
Until your kids leave the house
Until you go back to school
Until you finish school
Until you clean the house
Until you organize the garage
Until you clean off your desk
Until you lose 10 lbs.
Until you gain 10 lbs.
Until you get married
Until you get a divorce
Until you have kids
Until the kids go to school
Until you retire
Until summer
Until spring
Until winter
Until fall
Until you die…

There is no better time than right now to be happy.

Happiness is a journey, not a destination.
So work like you don't need money.
Love like you've never been hurt, and, Dance like no one's watching.

If you want to brighten someone's day, pass this on to someone special.

I just did!

Wishing you a beautiful, daffodil day!

Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that it will never begin.

Just thought I would share this poem with you all

Don't Quit!

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but do not quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out–
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit–
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Want to succeed? Goals are essential!

Want to get more money? drive a better car? take more holidays? be happier? be healthier? spend more time with the family? quit your job or get a better job ? well goals are essentials. PLan to succeed don't fail to plan, because then you plan to fail.

The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don't define them, or ever seriously consider them as believable or achievable. Winners can tell you where they are going, what they plan to do along the way, and who will be sharing the adventure with them.
Denis Watley

I feel that the most important step in any major accomplishment is setting a specific goal. This enables you to keep your mind focused on your goal and off the many obstacles that will arise when you're striving to do your best.
Kurt Thomas

In life, as in football, you won't go far unless you know where the goalposts are.
Arnold H. Glasgow

You must have long term goals to keep you from being frustrated by short term failures.
Charles C. Noble

Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.
Sydney Smith

Man is a goal seeking animal. His life only has meaning if he is reaching out and striving for his goals.
Aristotle

If you're bored with life — you don't get up every morning with a burning desire to do things — you don't have enough goals.
Lou Holtz

Crystallize your goals. Make a plan for achieving them and set yourself a deadline. Then, with supreme confidence, determination and disregard for obstacles and other people's criticisms, carry out your plan.
Paul Meyer

You have to set goals that are almost out of reach. If you set a goal that is attainable without much work or thought, you are stuck with something below your true talent and potential.
Steve Garvey

The tragedy of life doesn't lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goals to reach.
Benjamin Mays

To achieve happiness, we should make certain that we are never without an important goal.
Earl Nightingale

I learned that if you want to make it bad enough, no matter how bad it is, you can make it.
Gale Sayers

The most important thing about goals is having one.
Geoffry F. Abert

Goals help focus you on areas in both your personal and professional life that are important and meaningful, rather than being guided by what other people want you to be, do, or accomplish.
Catherine Pulsifer

What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.
Zig Ziglar

By losing your goal, You have lost your way.
Friedrich Nietzsche

The unfortunate aspect about living life without your own goals is that you may very well reach a point in your life where you will wonder, 'what would have happened if I had only done…
Catherine Pulsifer

It doesn't matter where you are coming from. All that matters is where you are going.
Brian Tracy

Do it now. You become successful the moment you start moving toward a worthwhile goal.

~ THINKING ~
by Walter D. Wintle

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you'd like to win but you think you can't,
It's almost a cinch you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost,
For out of the world we find
Sucess begins with a fellow's will -
It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you're outclassed, you are.
You've got to think high to rise.
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life's battles don't always go
To a stronger or faster man;
But sooner or later the man who wins,
Is the one who THINKS he can.

I know after reading it It made me really step back and think and has helped me come even more motivated than ever. It's always the correct time to think about where you have been and where you are going. And then work out how you will get there. How much money would you like to earn? What would you do with some extra income etc

10 KEYS TO UNLOCKING YOUR FUTURE.

1. We have to put ourself together first, to KNOW ourself – strengths and limitations – before we know what we want.

2. Believe you can do it.

3. Believe that as one person, what you do will make a difference.

4. When you dare to dream, you make it all possible. Cease to dwell on negative things. Know that, "Miracles begin to happen when we pay as much attention to our dreams as we do to our nightmares."

5. Full commitment regardless of setback.

6. Persistence in adversity. No one said it would be easy, but it will be well worth it.

7. Never give up when things seeem insurmountable. Creativity and a new approach can change a problem into a goldmine.

8. Every great achievement and invention was once impossible until someone made a goal and to make it a reality.

9. "We become what we think about." (Ralph Waldo Emerson) So be careful what you think!

10. If you think it, you can bring it into being with enough thought and determination. In 1949, a large group of American Congressmen refused to accept even the thought of man being able to go to the moon when it was first suggested. One of them warned, "That is flying in the face of God. It can never be done." Twenty years later, 20 July 1969, it became a reality.

What impossible thought, action, dream or desire will YOU be bringing to life during 2007?

YOU NOW HAVE YOUR KEYS…GO UNLOCK THE FUTURE!

A great bit of motivation here from the man himself. Sayings like this really help to pick you up, when your income strategy or your goals in life, just aren't going to plan. Remember nothing comes easy, but if you work hard the world is out there for the taking.

Everybody stumbles across a golden opportunity at least once in their lifetime. Unfortunately most people just pick themselves up – dust themselves down and walk away"…….Winston Churchill

Do you have any dream killers in your life? Dream
killers are those people who discourage you when you
are trying to change your life. It's amazing how many
people tell their friends and family that they cannot
succeed. This is especially true when you are trying to
do something "outside of the box" like making money
online or starting your own business.

The main argument these dream killers have is that your
goals are unrealistic. They will advise you to be more
"practical", and pretend they are offering you sound
advice.

Many of them believe they are doing a favor by
discouraging you. They think they are helping you live
a life in "your best interest". But really, they are
encouraging you to a live a life without vision.

If you are really motivated toward success, doing
anything less than your ambitious goals will be
unfulfilling for you. You end up wondering what could
have been. You continue to live your life for other
people, instead of yourself.

Your friends and family who discourage you from trying
something new are only giving you insight into what
they would do in your position. They do not have the
vision and the drive that you do. They are only
reacting out of their own fear.

Other people take the path of least resistance, but
that does not mean that you have to. Your goals are
important to you for a reason. You will only be happy
when you achieve them. Giving up on your goals because
other people think they are unrealistic is no way to
live your life.

How to you overcome the dream killers in your life?

You may want to start with choosing who you spend your
time with. If you want to be self-motivated, you've got
to spend time with other people who are self-motivated.
The same goes for the other aspects of success.

If the dream killers in your life are close relatives,
and long time friends, try keeping your business goals
to yourself for a while until you get going. By the
time you've had a little success, they will probably be
a lot more supportive.

Finally, the best way to overcome the dream killers in
your life is to be confident in yourself and your
goals. If you are truly confident in yourself and your
ideas, then no one can stop you.

Keep your goals and dreams in front of you all the
time. They will be your motivation, when some of your
"well-meaning friend" try to discourage you.

Don't let anyone steal YOUR DREAMS!
