How to Generate Network Marketing or MLM Leads

If theres one thing you need in order to succeed with MLM/Network Marketing its leads. Without leads, youll never make much money regardless of your company, the pay plan, your upline or anything else. Youre also going to need a lot of leads since theres no way youll sign every one to be an agent. How many youll need depends on several factors such as your skill and your business. Not to mention; if you have a lot of leads, you wont have to feel like you have to sign every one. Its a lot easier to say No to having someone that doesnt match what youre looking for if you have 20-30 people waiting on your call. There are other factors involved in succeeding, but if you have leads and use them, thats a large hurdle passed.

This article aims to give you a few ideas on how to generate those leads and make it as simple as possible. I dont really like the term Lead since theyre really just people like you and me who are looking for a better life; but well use the term for this article since thats a commonly excepted term and to prevent confusion.

Lets go over a few ways you can generate MLM leads.

Call everyone you know and ask for referrals.
Tell them about the great business you have and how they can benefit from either being a customer or agent. If youve chosen wisely and believe in your company, you wont see a problem with this. If you arent sure you have a great business, maybe you should keep looking. A great way to decide if you have a good company is to ask yourself if youd sign up your best friend or valued member of your family. Or ask yourself if youd use the product if there was no pay plan involved. If the answer is No, maybe you should keep looking.

Build lead capture pages and get them listed high on search engines.
This will generate leads that are interested in your company. However, anyone who has worked at getting a site listed high will tell you this is time consuming and far from easy and its not an overnight job either. You could spend months working on your site and never break the top 100.

You can advertise your lead capture page on Pay Per Click (PPC) search engines.
The largest sites are Google and Yahoo. These are the ads that show up at the top or on the right when you search. This is the fastest way and depending on the key words youre bidding on could be cheap or very expensive (some keywords cost over 100 bucks) and theres no guarantee youll get a single lead. It only guarantees that someone will see your page. If youre going to go this route, do yourself a favor and either get trained on how to do it or start slow or both. You can easily blow hundreds or thousands of dollars before you know it.

You can print flyers and post them on bulletin boards around town and put them on doors and cars.
If you figure a 1-2% success rate, youll get 1-2 leads per hundred flyers and then depending on your closing rate, you can figure out how many flyers youll need to hand out consistently to reach your goals. Also figure in printing costs. Even if youre printing these at home, youll have to pay for ink/toner and the wear and tear on your printer, not to mention the time and gas it takes to drive around and post the flyers. You should also get permission from property owners/managers if youre going to put them on doors or cars since some people will throw them on the ground. One other thing to be wary about is car alarms.

You can spam the world with one of those e-mail 16 million people for 29.95 spam messages you get every week.
Do us both a favor and dont. The best you can hope for is to not get blacklisted or in trouble with the feds. The odds are that youll be visited by the feds and/or have your ISP shut you down. The way these are collected is by sending a little robot spider to crawl the web and collect e-mail addresses from forums, news groups, blogs, web sites and anywhere else they can find them. These are just bad news and may get you kicked out of your company since they could be black listed because you didnt follow this advice. An easy way to tell if they are real leads or harvested is the price. If theyre unbelievably cheap or dont include i.p. address, they are probably harvested.

Cold Calling
This is just as it sounds. You pick up the phone book and start calling. This is the cheapest way to generate leads and if you have a thick skin may work for you. The thing to remember is that those people may be on the Do Not Call List and it may get you in trouble. The best thing to do is research the legal requirements before attempting this. The direct link is /telemarketing.donotcall.gov Ive never done cold calling so Im not sure if they charge you to be a member or not.

You can buy leads from a company that generates leads for you.
But even these arent created equal. Some companies sell the same lead to 5, 10 or more people; even people in the same company as you and sell them for weeks, months or longer. You could end up with a lead that is 5 months old and been called by 10 or more people and is just plain tired of talking to people or has already joined a company and is quite happy with it. Some are also overpriced and use shady tactics to get people to sign up such as contest sites.

Or you could join a lead Co-Op that only sells the lead to you and generates it after you order meaning they are about 1-3 days old and only sold once. You want to make sure the company is reputable, been around for awhile and truly cares about their customers/members. They should offer multiple lead packages, training on how to effectively contact those leads, multiple autoresponders to make contacting them for follow-up (the fortune is in the follow-up) and training them easier and a presentation to explain what network marketing/MLM actually is in case the person has never heard of the concept or your company doesnt offer a recruiting site. It would also help if the company has a pay plan so that as you refer your new downline to the great leads you use, you can create an extra income stream (or at least get them for free) and so can your downline. One such Lead Co-Op is www.bestmlmleads.biz

The thing to remember is that regardless of how the lead was generated these people asked for information on starting a home based business and you should make it your responsibility to get them the information as soon as possible. Unless you didnt take my advice and used a spam CD; then youre on your own.

Another thing to think about when choosing a method is will it be duplicatable to your downline and get consistent results? But thats a subject covered in a previous article.

25 Tips for MASSIVE Success with Leads

by Motivated Mike – www.mlmdevelopment.com

Look at your leads like an investment. Plan on working a lead program for one year to ensure better results and to allow proper follow-up. Avoid trying things out, instead commit to the program long enough to get better at what you are doing. Allows things to compound for greater results.

You are the MESSENGER, not the MESSAGE. Use your companys tools so you are duplicating. It makes no difference how much experience you have, its the opportunity that matters the most to the prospect.

Navigate your prospect through the EXPOSURE process until they decide. Exposures may be websites, 3-way calls, meetings, etcMentally prepare to give each prospect 5 exposures. Some join on 1 or 2 exposures and some take more.

LOOK for people who WILL, because anyone CAN. Teachable, workable and willing individuals ONLY. Dont waste your time on procrastinators, look for participatorsthose who DESERVE your TIME.

Turn NOs into fortunes by asking for referrals. Start a referral chain and eventually people say YES. Once anyone buys a product or joins the opportunity, just go back to your original prospect and watch what happens.

BE Creative, BE persistent and have the right attitude when working the prospect, especially during follow-up. You never know when one will join. Prospects having timing, money and belief issuesso keep working on them.

Develop RATIOS. Tracking results and ACCOUNTABILITY is KEY. Eventually have solid numbers to map out incomes for monthly or yearly goals. As a bonus, if you have a bad day, week or monthbecause you know your numbers you stay focused. Here is a great question"How would it feel to know EXACTLY what you have to do to earn the amount of money you want or need from your business?

Focus on using SYSTEMS instead of just YOU. Prospects are looking at what you do as a model for what they have to do, so no matter how good you areits more important to use tools and to promote your system. Systems duplicate faster than PEOPLE.

Ask questions. Getting to know your prospects and exploring HOT buttons. Gathering information that will be critical in follow-up. Are you looking for PT or FT income? How soon would you like to begin? ETC

FOLLOW-UP until they say NO or YES or join the Witness Protection Program. You never know when they will JOIN, so stay in touch and drip long enough to avoid positioning your prospect for someone else to sponsor.

SORT instead of CONVINCE. Navigate your prospect to and through your systems, and remember you can only control how many people you place in a funnel, and NOT the ones who fall out.. Stay away from those who NEED your time. Avoid recruiting HEADACHES. Remember, there is NO money in running ADULT day care centers.

Sell DREAMS and TEAMS. Never forget prospects want financial and time freedom more than anything else. Talk about LIFESTYLE, waking up when your done sleeping, firing the boss, etcAND never forget to Sell your TEAM, sell your ENVIRONMENT. You will attract more people.

WEATHER the STORM. Some leads say one thing and do another. Some leads provide inaccurate information and some dont. Some are curious and some are serious. But, you know whats amazing? SOME LEADS are GEMS! Just like a deck of cards there are 4 ACES but you need to keep FLIPPING to find them. Stay FOCUSED.

Focus on LISTENING skills. When you ask someone a question try ASKING one more question about their ANSWER. Two things will happen you will LEARN more about them and they will realize you are sincere.

PROMOTE leads. To your teams as an additional ACTIVITY. Its not the only way its another way and can be used with existing game plans to enhance ones income and or level with their company. Like a good STIMULUS program, always have more leads than you need.

BUILD Lead Machines. If it takes a few years to develop a few lead machines in your group than so be it. Imagine having an army of people in your downline talking to hundreds or thousands of people for your business everyday. Imagine the RESULTS over TIME.

Implement Lead TRAINING and DEVELOPMENT. Specific conference call trainings on working leads. Special lead workshops in your local markets. Special products for working leads. The key is to keep training and developing like every other area of your business. CEM will help you.

BUILD for the next EVENT with Leads. So you have a big conference coming up or even a small event like a super Saturdayleaders encourage the additional activity of leads OR even use LOCAL leads to build the area.

VIEW leads as INTELLECTUAL Property. Never throw your leads away. Leads are valuable and you never know when someone will join PLUS you will have old leads to use for NEW promotions down the road. Like building a good ezine there is power in NUMBERS.

USE Handwritten Postcards. When is the last time YOU received a handwritten postcard in the mail from someone trying to SELL or SHARE something with YOU? HERE IS A TIP: At the end of each month, identify your TOP prospects that have not joined as of yet, and send them a handwritten postcard.

WORK on EMOTION. Never forget that people make decisions on emotion, not just facts. Teach and practice IMMEDIATE response techniques so your downline is contacting the prospect within 24-48 hours. EMOTION causes MOTION!

STRUCTURE closing techniques. Dont be just the information specialist. Remember that YOU have a right to SELL so you should develop a HABIT of asking people to get started after 3-5 exposures. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. The more you do this, the better off you are. NOT Structuring a CLOSE is the #1 PITFALL for people working leads.

Use the WAITING ROOM. A simple mindset of where to place prospects who do not join your business after 30 days. Spend your time with the ones who DESERVE you, not the ones who NEED you. Every once in awhile, you can OPEN up the waiting room door and DRIP on your prospects. Eventually some of them start to knock.

ENCOURAGE Personal Growth. Good leaders know the power of learning and earning. Constant training and development on EVERY aspect of personal development will double and triple your bank accounts.

Please read this and then think how many times have i started something but just not seen it through ?? It just meant that little bit of effort but you could not be bothered

The Daffodil Principle

Several times my daughter had telephoned to say, "Mother, you must come to see the daffodils before they are over." I wanted to go, but it was a two-hour drive from Laguna to Lake Arrowhead "I will come next Tuesday", I promised a little reluctantly on her third call.

Next Tuesday dawned cold and rainy Still, I had promised, and reluctantly I drove there. When I finally walked into Carolyn's house I was welcomed by the joyful sounds of happy children. I delightedly hugged and greeted my grandchildren.

"Forget the daffodils, Carolyn! The road is invisible in these clouds and fog, and there is nothing in the world except you and these children that I want to see badly enough to drive another inch!"

My daughter smiled calmly and said, "We drive in this all the time, Mother." "Well, you won't get me back on the road until it clears, and then I'm heading for home!" I assured her.

"But first we're going to see the daffodils. It's just a few blocks," Carolyn said. "I'll drive. I'm used to this."

"Carolyn," I said sternly, "please turn around." "It's all right, Mother, I promise. You will never forgive yourself if you miss this experience."

After about twenty minutes, we turned onto a small gravel road and I saw a small church. On the far side of the church, I saw a hand lettered sign with an arrow that read, "Daffodil Garden." We got out of the car, each took a child's hand, and I followed Carolyn down the path. Then, as we turned a corner, I looked up and gasped. Before me lay the most glorious sight.
It looked as though someone had taken a great vat of gold and poured it over the mountain peak and its surrounding slopes. The flowers were planted in majestic, swirling patterns, great ribbons and swaths of deep orange, creamy white, lemon yellow, salmon pink, and saffron and butter yellow. Each different-colored variety was planted in large groups so that it swirled and flowed like its own river with its own unique hue. There were five acres of flowers.

"Who did this?" I asked Carolyn. "Just one woman," Carolyn answered. "She lives on the property. That's her home." Carolyn pointed to a well-kept A-frame house, small and modestly sitting in the midst of all that glory. We walked up to the house.

On the patio, we saw a poster. "Answers to the Questions I Know You Are Asking", was the headline. The first answer was a simple one. "50,000 bulbs," it read. The second answer was, "One at a time, by one woman. Two hands, two feet, and one brain." The third answer was, "Began in 1958."

For me, that moment was a life-changing experience. I thought of this woman whom I had never met, who, more than forty years before, had begun, one bulb at a time, to bring her vision of beauty and joy to an obscure mountaintop. Planting one bulb at a time, year after year, this unknown woman had forever changed the world in which she lived. One day at a time, she had created something of extraordinary magnificence, beauty, and inspiration. The principle her daffodil garden taught is one of the greatest principles of celebration.
That is, learning to move toward our goals and desires one step at a time–often just one baby-step at time–and learning to love the doing, learning to use the accumulation of time. When we multiply tiny pieces of time with small increments of daily effort, we too will find we can accomplish magnificent things. We can change the world …

"It makes me sad in a way," I admitted to Carolyn. "What might I have accomplished if I had thought of a wonderful goal thirty-five or forty years ago and had worked away at it 'one bulb at a time' through all those years? Just think what I might have been able to achieve!"

My daughter summed up the message of the day in her usual direct way. "Start tomorrow," she said.

She was right. It's so pointless to think of the lost hours of yesterdays. The way to make learning a lesson of celebration instead of a cause for regret is to only ask, "How can I put this to use today?"

Use the Daffodil Principle. Stop waiting…..

Until your car or home is paid off
Until you get a new car or home
Until your kids leave the house
Until you go back to school
Until you finish school
Until you clean the house
Until you organize the garage
Until you clean off your desk
Until you lose 10 lbs.
Until you gain 10 lbs.
Until you get married
Until you get a divorce
Until you have kids
Until the kids go to school
Until you retire
Until summer
Until spring
Until winter
Until fall
Until you die…

There is no better time than right now to be happy.

Happiness is a journey, not a destination.
So work like you don't need money.
Love like you've never been hurt, and, Dance like no one's watching.

If you want to brighten someone's day, pass this on to someone special.

I just did!

Wishing you a beautiful, daffodil day!

Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that it will never begin.
