20 tips to promote your money making business 

Here are 20 tips to help you promote your money making business more, which should help you to boost sales, and thus increase your income.

#1. Take a small zip close baggie (snack sizes work well) and include the following in it:

Your Business Card, Business Oppty Mini Flyer, a Piece of Candy such as hard candy or a lollipop, mini flyer of current host specials, discount coupon (optional) etc.

Hand these out to the bank tellers, retail cashiers, at your kids sport events, every where you go!

#2. When I stay at hotels & motels I leave a mini catalog, my business card & discount coupon and the mini coin canister for the maid! I put her tip inside the mini coin canister! I have gotten 3 orders by doing this!

Be creative when you leave tips for Hotel Maids, Waitresses, Waiters, Hair Dressers, etc. Don't just hand them your business card, make it memorable!

You can also buy cute little beaded change purses at your local dollar discount store!

#3. Print out flyers with your contact info (not your personal address), your website address & email address along with any current specials you are offering.

Then contact local area mobile home park offices, apartment complex rental offices, housing developements etc and ask them if you can leave fliers in their office or hang on their tennants doors. Give the office employees a free gift or discount on their personal orders.

#4. Contact local area bridal supply stores, bridal gown stores, caterers, tux rental centers, wedding dj's etc. Ask them if you can leave your business cards & fliers about the great (Company Name) Bridal Gift Registry for them to give to their customers.

Offer store owners a free gift or a personal discount for helping you spread the word about your business.

#5. Daycare Centers! They are excellent to contact and leave business cards and/or fliers at!

I print out a flyer of just a few items from our Tupperware Childrens line and I attach my business card & a discount coupon. I get alot of orders by doing this!

So whatever company you represent, find some items that cater to children or to moms and make up a flier!

#6. Alot of churches hold a Spring and Fall Fest! Contact them about getting a table or a booth. Alot of times this will cost you under $15.00 for a space!

Make sure you take products with you along with business oppty fliers, plenty of catalogs, business cards etc.

Do a contest drawing at these types of events. Make up entry blanks that gather the customers info so that you can initiate contact with them again!

#7. Join your local area chamber of commerce! They are always holding local business events that you can participate in.

#8. College Campuses! Dorms & Housing Students are always looking to spend money! Alot of college students are also looking for an extra income so target them with the Business Oppty too!

Drop off fliers and business cards to the College Student Center! They usually have bulletin boards, tables and other things where you can leave your information at for FREE!

#9. Contact your local area Welcome Wagon or Welcome to the Neighborhood Group! Ask them about you leaving mini catalogs, fliers, business cards, discount coupons, freebie mini gifts, etc with them.

They are always looking for additional items to place in their Welcome Bags!

#10. Contact your local area hospitals and ask for Human Resources Dept. The Majority of hospitals hand out New Mommy Diaper Bags filled with products, samples and other stuff for New Moms who just had a baby!

It's FREE for you to add in your information! I have gotten party hosts, new customers and new recruits by participating in these types of programs.

#11. Contact your local medical offices, particularly Gynecology and OB Offices and Pediatric Offices and inquire about you leaving information with them.

This is a way for you to target Parents of Children with both the home party oppty, the business oppty and new customer sales.

#12. Donate a Product to your local area Radio Station, they have numerous contests and they are always looking for sponsors!

Your donation can be written off as a tax deduction plus you will get FREE Advertising & Business Exposure for your donation!

#13. Donate a Product to your local area Bingo Halls! They are always looking for sponsors of their Bingo Prizes! Bingo is BIG in alot of areas!

#14. Call your Chamber of Commerce and find out about Local Area Job Fairs. Get a booth and set up info about the fabulous business oppty!

#15. Call your Local Area Colleges and find out when their next job/employment fair is. Alot of times you can get a booth or table for less than $35 and you will get alot of GREAT new recruit leads by participating in events like these.

#16. Contact local area car dealerships. I have 2 in my local area that hand out a small packet that I made up for FREE to their customers who come in to take a free test drive!

#17. Target your local area gyms! You can get a table space for $20 or less in most cases! Make sure you have 3-5 products on display, plenty of catalogs, business cards and fliers.

#18. Network with others in your community who are in home business. Find out what events and activities that they participate in. They are usually "in the know" and can help you get started in networking in your community.

#19. Contact Companies in your area to see if you can come in and set up a table in the employee lounge or cafeteria for a employee shopping break! These days alot of companies will allow you to do this if you ask them!

#20. Does your local area tv cable company have a local information channel? Inquire about advertising! These ads will reach thousands of potential buyers for you! I recommend you only use your website address for these types of advertising and not your personal at home address.

Congratulations! You've got a strong direct sales downline or are beginning to build one!

This is one of the best parts of being a direct sales consultant, – the fact that you can share your passion for your business with others, help them to earn a little extra money and get paid for helping grow your company as well.

Now that you are a leader of a team, you'll need to build a strong relationship with downline members to not only help them stay strong in their business, but to help your business grow stronger as well. A strong downline relationship will be one that's mutually helpful and everyone benefits.

But you may be wondering how to insure that downline members feel cared for while still maintaining some type of balance with the rest of your life. Here are 5 easy tips for maintaining a great upline/downline relationship.

1. Start off with a bang. When a new recruit first signs up, it's vitally important that you communicate often with her. One thing that I have found very helpful here is to develop a series of emails to send to new downline that talks them through those first days "on the job".

It will help them feel like they are connected to the company and to you. Each day while your new recruit is waiting for her kit she should hear from you. This is very easy to do with an autoresponder system, but can also be done by just copying and pasting into an email message every morning.

2. 15 minutes a day. Set aside fifteen minutes of each workday for downline phone calls. Use those minutes to call one to five members of your group for a quick "just checking in" call. Leave a message if you get voicemail. The idea is to let them know that you're thinking of them and giving them a chance to hear your voice. This is a great time to ask how they're doing with their non-business life as well and get beyond your direct sales company to show you care about them.

3. A downline website. Creating a simple website for my group has been the best thing, by far that I did to keep communication open and strong with my group. We have weekly topic discussions, contests, upload important files and just have fun with the whole group. Through this many relationships between members of my group have blossomed just because the website allowed them to "break the ice".

4. Meetings and/or conference calls. This is another great way to foster unity and strong relationships within your group. Many of you probably have downline that are out your area, so have a quarterly conference call with everyone just to touch base. There are many free teleconference services via the internet that make it very easy to do. And if you can, have a face-to-face meeting once in a while as well. Some group leaders have meetings monthly or quarterly. Others do a once a year get together with everyone.

5. Ecards. I love ecards for celebrating birthdays, achievements etc. First of all it's FREE, which is great, but it's so convenient and just plain fun. Use one of those Internet calendar functions to keep track of birthdays. Once a month go through the upcoming month and set up the ecard deliveries for the birthdays and company anniversary dates for the next month or more. You can set these up to deliver up to a year in advance! It's a wonderful thing. There are hundreds of sites for free ecards on the Internet.

The key? Communicate in any and every way that you can. You will find that your direct sales team members will stay with your company much longer when you've fostered a strong relationship by keeping in touch! Have fun and happy team building!

 Three Little Words That Work!!     

  (1) The three little words: 'Hold On, Please…' 
 Saying this, while putting down your phone and walking off   (instead of hanging-up immediately) would make each telemarketing call so   much more time-consuming that boiler room sales would grind to a halt. 
 
 Then when you eventually hear BT's 'beep-beep-beep' tone, you know it's time to go back and hang up your handset. You have efficiently completed your task.   
 
 These three little words could help eliminate telephone soliciting.
  
 (2) Do you ever get those annoying phone calls with no one on the other end?

  This is a telemarketing technique where a machine makes phone 
 calls and records the time of day when a person answers the phone.  
  
 This technique is then used to determine the best time of day for a 
 'real' salesperson to call back and get someone at home.  
 
 What you can do after answering:   If you notice there is no one there, is to immediately start hitting your # button on the phone, 6 or 7   times, as  quickly as possible.    This confuses the machine that dialled the  call and it kicks your number out of their system.      Gosh, what a shame not  to have your name in their system any longer!!!  
  
  

3: When you get those 'pre-approved' letters in the mail for  everything from credit cards to 2nd mortgages and similar type junk, do not throw away the return envelope. 
 
 Most of these come with postage-prepaid return envelopes, right?

  It costs them more than the regular postage 'IF' and when they   are returned.     It costs them nothing if you throw them away!     In that case, why   not get rid of some of your other junk mail and put it in these cool little, postage-prepaid return envelopes.  
  
 Send an advert for your local chimney sweeper to American Express … they might need one! 
 Send a pizza coupon to HSBC … in case their canteen packs up.    You get the idea.  
  
 If you didn't get anything else that day, then just send them back their blank application form … after all, it is their form! 
  
 If you want to remain anonymous, just make sure your name isn't on anything you return.
  
 You can even send the envelope back empty if you want to just to keep them guessing!     It still costs them, and it is their envelope; after all you are just returning it!!!!
  
 The banks and credit card companies are currently getting a lot  of their own junk back in the post, but folks ….. We need to OVERWHELM them, in order to stop them. 
   
 Let's let them know what it's like to get lots of junk mail, 
 and best of all they're paying for it … Twice!
  
 Let's help keep Royal Mail busy.   Since the Royal Mail is saying that e-mail is cutting into their business profits, let's help them so they will not need to increase postage costs again.   You get the idea!
  
 If enough people follow these tips, it will work —- maybe you'll get very little junk mail anymore.

A super income general rant 

Wow another day of great news for all the normal people in the united kingdom, with yet more warnings of doom and gloom for the people who live of normal incomes. In fact some media sources report that its time to buy more jumpers and turn your heating off. As the foreign owner of British gas announces more stupid price hikes, with an expected 60% increase in the cost of fuels, it is expected to take the average annual household bill over the £1,000 mark.

 I heard a representative of the owner of British gas on radio one this morning, saying the era of cheap energy has come to an end (probably okay for him, in his massive house, with stupid wage packet !!). Of course the massive profits they make isn't a problem for the company, they just feel that the cost of oil must be past onto the consumers.

In an interview Centrica managing director Jake Ulrich warned that gas prices were likely to continue rising "for some time".

"I think it is going to hit people hard," he said.

"I do think we will see people change their behaviour, I think people will use less energy and I hate to go back to the Jimmy Carter days in the US, but maybe it's two jumpers instead of one.

"I think people will change the temperature they keep the house, they'll be more cognisant of energy waste, they'll buy better appliances."

He added: "We're part of a world economy and I don't think we can rely on UK production or cheap gas, cheap energy of any sort any more.

BBC News business reporter John Moylan says some people will wonder whether, by publishing the research, Centrica – which owns British Gas – is laying the groundwork for even steeper price rises in the years ahead

The government estimates that 2.5 million households are in fuel poverty – defined as when more than 10% of household income is spent on fuel bills – but watchdog Energywatch says the figure is more than four million.

The consumer group says that 1,000 a day are being pushed onto more expensive pre-payment meters because they are getting into debt with utility bills. Seems like it time for more people to do what I say, and look at other ways to create additional income streams.

At the same time Energy regulator Ofgem has been investigating the electricity and gas markets for households and small businesses since February. It said it had no evidence of anti-competitive behaviour, but was responding to customer worries.  Great news hey, really protecting the public interests there.

Then there was good news or bad news (depending where you sit on this argument) for the long term unemployed. With proposals leaked by unkown sources, about potential plans for the people who have been living off income support/job seakers for a long period of time. These so called new plans include a "work for dole" scheme, which would require people to do "full time activities" to benefit themselves and their community. The leaked document says everyone other than severely disabled people, carers and parents of young children should be expected to look and train for work.

The Tories say many of the ideas were put forward by them six months ago.

The government is due to unveil its Welfare Green Paper for England and Wales on Monday – but a draft copy leaked on Friday suggests it will contain US-style "work for dole" programmes and a reassessment of all existing incapacity benefit claimants.

It says, for a small group of people, repeated spells on out-of-work benefits have "become the norm" and said the government would "continue to increase what we expect of people the longer they've been on benefit."

The government has already announced plans to make young people who have been out of school, training or a job for six months to do at least four weeks' "work related activity"
